Plays landmark concert at Michigan State University along with Flatt,

Wrote several articles published on country music and it's personalities
including For Country Music Magazine, which had his account of the European
tour of Johnny Cash. Awarded first GOLD album for bringing a song called
"The Highwayman" to the attention of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings,
Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson. Signs with CBS
1986
Major label debut with Marty Stuart
ACM nomination for Best Male Vocalist
1988
CBS releases Let There Be Country
1989
Signs with MCA and releases Hillbilly Rock which Marty's emergence as
a complete artist – as a writer, musician and singer. Title track
becomes a Top 10 hit on the R&R and Billboard charts.
1990
"Hillbilly Rock" receives CMA nomination for Music Video of
the Year
1991
Tempted is released and yields 4 Top 10 hits on the R&R and Billboard
charts: "Little Things", "Til I Found You", "Tempted"
and "Burn Me Down"
Records a duet titled "Whiskey Ain't Workin' with Travis Tritt. This
song was also co-written by Marty. It goes on to be a Top 10 hit on both
R&R and Billboard charts.
Produced Jerry & Tammy Sullivan's, A Joyful Noise on which he wrote
and co-wrote a number of songs.
1992
This One's Gonna Hurt You is released. The title track, a duet with Travis
Tritt, becomes a Top 10 hit on the R&R and Billboard charts.
"Whiskey Ain't Workin'" nominated for ACM's Top Vocal Duet,
TNN/MCN Vocal Collaboration and receives the Vocal Event of the Year award
from the CMA.

Rhythm, Country & Blues is nominated for Album of the Year by the
CMA.
Marty is nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year by TNN/MCN.
"Devil Comes Back to Georgia" is nominated for Vocal Event by
the CMA
